Tinted Windows is a New York based dance company of female dancers. Each work exists in its own world which in turn can be found anywhere.
Tinted Windows was founded by Carly Lepore as a means to express her artistic drive with like-minded collaborators. After graduating from NYU Tisch in 2017 with a B.F.A. in dance, Lepore strove to continue her artistic career on her own terms. The dancers of Tinted Windows share her commitment to movement and the creation process.
We describe our work as being intensely physical, countered by a casual, pedestrian quality, giving the dancers an innately human appearance. We push the boundaries of what “concert dance” can be. There doesn’t have to be a deeper meaning nor a recognizable movement style. We keep things in the present: a performance isn’t something stagnant that is copied and repeated. Using improvisation, each performance is a different experience for everyone involved. We create an experience for everyone instead of a performance.
